In Luosto and on Kommattivaara (Kommatti) hill you can ski downhill in some of the most beautiful landscapes of Lapland in total peace, without the feeling of congestion or rush.
Downhill Skiing & Snowboarding
There are two downhill skiing centres in Sodankylä: Kommattivaara, near the town centre, and Luosto, further south. You can hire and service equipment in both places. This means you can focus on enjoying skiing and snowboarding care-free in the middle of Lapland!
Luosto
Luosto offers both the calm of the national park, the joy of the piste and great shopping and eating possibilities. There are seven slopes in the Luosto Ski Centre, and they are suitable for families with children, too. The longest slope is Kantakierto, which is up 1.5 km long.
Kommattivaara
Kommatti is a hill near the centre of Sodankylä where you can cross-country and downhill ski, and snowboard through fine, uncongested Lapland landscapes. You can also rent and service equipment on site. There are signs to Kommatti from the town centre, and it is about a ten-minute drive.
